After a tough few weeks of feeling sorry for myself and watching disgusting amounts of Love Island and old Roseanne reruns, I've felt the need to dip my hands into something creative and to keep my mind occupied. I wasn't looking for anything too far fetched or crazy but I wanted to create something cool and in the Halloween spirit. If you know me you know that I am not really a Halloween kinda gal. I'm the girl with 10+ pairs of Christmas pajamas and who can watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (the good one from the 60's that plays on ABCs 25 Days of Christmas Countdown) every day of the year. It pains me to wait until 10pm on Halloween night to hang the stockings and place Nutcrackers around my home, but apparently decorating for good ol' Saint Nick before Halloween is a bit too taboo for the mainstream world. RAMBLING ASIDE - I have tried to get in the spirit this year despite the horrendous curve balls life has thrown my way, and I was actually really excited to create this Halloween look. I was inspired by the fabulous Carli Bybel, who not only inspired this creation but also inspires me to put down the brownies and pasta (HOLY ABS ON THAT GIRL AM I RIGHT!?) I was also heavily inspired by the Jim Lee art of Poison Ivy! I love the almost Mother Nature spin on her!
TOP DETAILS:
Sheet Moss and Hot Glue Gun (came with glue sticks) = $8.50 Walmart Random Leaf Branch = $6 JO-ANNE Fabrics (Download the JO-ANNE fabric app for almost guaranteed discounts! This branch was originally like $15 but I had a coupon)
I hot glue gunned the moss and leaves to an old tank top I had, but if you don't have one you can spare I saw some at Walmart for about $5! For a sexier take on this look you can always use a sports bra as well! As far as bottoms, I wasn't too invested in making a mini skirt but you can of course follow the same steps with hot glue gunning the leaves and moss. I opted for a pair of ripped skinny jeans and red heels for a cool modern take.
MAKEUP DETAILS:
Being in the beauty world for 8 years means I have LOTS of makeup, so I truly didn't need to go out and buy anything extra, and I'm a firm believer in working what you got regardless.
CONTOUR - I personally used the darker green mossy shades from the Anastasia Subculture Palette (I never understood the dragging of this palette, I love it to this day!) I contrasted it with lime green and yellow shades from a now discontinued Morphe palette, 12B I think it was called, but essentially it was a 12 pan rainbow eyeshadow palette. I did the same for my EYES.
EYEBROWS - Anastasia Beverly Hills "Sarafine" Liquid Lipstick
LIPSTICK - Nars "Starwoman" (a far more comfortable formula for a matte lip)
EYES cont. - Sephora White Eye Pencil + Tarte "GTL" Lashes
